If you want to make money with your blog, you must have a plan. This includes an overall plan for the next few years, as well as a plan for this year, this month, this week, and even today.
It’s so easy to start blogging or posting to social media. But, without an overall plan, you’re spinning your wheels. You will struggle staying focused, organized and on track.
What should be included in your plan? That depends on where you are in your business.

Planning Step #1: Choose Your Niche
Whenever I talk about making money with my blog, my readers respond with one common question:
Is it too late to make a living blogging?
While blogging is different now than when I started, my answer is still a resounding
NO!
In fact, I think it’s even easier to get started now, with so many technical tools available to make the process easier, plus tons of trainings to help you start off on the right blogging foot.
I recommend starting with your niche. How do you choose your niche?
Start with a niche that you know well and have an interest in. Not only should you know that area well, consider the people in that niche. Are they accustomed
to spending money? Marketing to “starving artists” is bad idea because …well,
they’re starving and don’t have any money to spend with you!
Let’s get started with your blogging plan with these 3 steps.
- List 10 passions or interests.
- Circle the ones you know well.
- Choose the top two circled items to research the competition and customer spending habits.
Having a plan is essential to having a successful blog and online business. If I were starting out again or if I was not making money, I would follow others who have already been successful.
In fact, I spent 15 minutes a couple weeks, choosing which resources I will use to follow my plan.
